Here's something I've never understood. In your
Generic Christmas Movie, you generally have a situation wherein (a) Santa exists but (b) no adults and very few children believe in Santa.
So what does Santa actually
do in such a movie universe? He can't be delivering presents, because otherwise at least those families that received presents would believe in Santa. (If people were getting free, unsolicited presents every Christmas, belief in Santa would be widespread.) So what then is Santa doing? Is he just reenacting this same sad "Nobody believes in me anymore" drama over and over every year?
And doesn't all this whining ring a little hollow, coming from a guy who really isn't holding up his end of the whole Christmas bargain in the first place, once you stop to think about it?
I'm not trying to ruin Christmas or anything. I just want to understand.
