Long time Canavaniacs know that I've never been such a fan of Woody Allen. I don't really know why. I've just always had something against him. Maybe he holds too-close a shattered mirror to my own sense of self (or my own sense of
Neil, it's so hard to tell the difference).
But we watched
Annie Hall tonight. It's one great movie all right. A classic; we're talking instant top ten style good. If you haven't seen it yet, go see it already.
Watching
Annie Hall for the first time is like suddenly realizing you've been looking at Xerox copies all these years, and only now have you finally seen the original. I'm looking at you,
High Fidelity. I'm looking at you,
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Best movie I've seen in a long long time. Nearly perfect.
So now I guess I embark on a fruitless Woody Allen quest to match this Woody Allen high. Ce la vie.
