Lately I've been on a bit of a documentary kick. Yesterday we took a look at the first two entries in Britain's seminal
Seven-Up series, which takes a look at the lives of several British schoolchildren every seven years. The series began in 1964 and
56-Up is due in 2011. We've seen the first two, which establish the characters; from
21-Up it's all about what happens to them.
I also recently finally watched the first part of
Country Boys, the David Sutherland PBS documentary on growing up in Appalachia. It's available for free at pbs.org, so it's just a matter of finding the hours in the day to watch it. It's quite good.
