In today's NY Times, music critic Kelefa Sanneh
reviews and mostly admires the new album from party girl and actress Lindsay Lohan.
Pianos crash; drums build; Ms. Lohan murmurs and wails as if she were in an emo band. (And if she were, by the way, it would probably be pretty good.) There's not much of a melody, but it's hard not to flinch when Ms. Lohan turns three words into an unanswered distress call: "Daughter to father, daughter to father."
Surprisingly, much of the CD is better than that single. Ms. Lohan has staked out a patch of musical ground between Kelly Clarkson and the Foo Fighters, and she can snarl a little without laying it on too thick.Wow. I can't follow that.
