Hey Patty -- can I borrow the July issue of Harper's sometime? This MetaFilter thread on coincidences tells me that there's a great story in there on the subject by Haruki Murakami, a writer I really enjoy. Unfortunately, it's not online, though these fantastic political cartoons are.



On the subject of coincidences: I seem to look at the clock at exactly 11:16 (my birthday time) at least once and maybe twice a day, my fiction seems to consistently anticipate major political, cultural, or literary events by months or even years, my father and I have the same name spelled exactly the same way, and my hometown name spelled backwards is Hplodnar, which is the name of Jaimee's home planet.
