A few months late, we rented
Garden State tonight. It's a really good movie, and I'm not just saying that because it's about Jersey. There are a few things that might keep it from being a great movie, one of which is the ending, but it's a really good movie at the very least. I'd just thought there were fifteen minutes left to go when it suddenly ended, and both Jaimee and I felt "They didn't just do
that, did they?"
But lame ending, a few script problems, and some weirdly uneven acting aside, the movie's definitely worth seeing, especially for the excellent soundtrack and unbelievably outstanding visuals. Some great little shots and camera tricks here. I hadn't seen a movie that *looked* this good in a long time. It made me happy, and made me again want to write a movie.
Rent it.
