It's out today, finally at last. A fine review sits right here
from cokemachineglow with appropriate nods to Dylan, as David Berman might be the best songwriter of our time (yes, a bold statement from a biased listener). What I especially like about this record is the move it makes, a progression. There's no sitting still for Berman. He's a different--much different--guy than the one who made Bright Flight, as evidenced by his admission to substance abuse and his embrace of Nashville
and his wife, and that is clearly manifest in both the writing and the melody. The music is certainly more "rocking," while the words reflect a more somber worldview but still evoked with great beauty and thought. Drag City is offering a free track
if you need more convincing (look on the left side, "I'm Getting Back into Getting Back into You"), but I'll be getting my legal copy of the record today.
